As bears awaken from hibernation, plants sprout new buds, and pets shed all over our new spring clothes, many of us feel the need for a fresh start.  To spring forward with a new hairdo, BeautyXposé  interviewed International Hair Artist Naz Kupelian, salon owner and member of the elite Rusk© creative design team responsible for developing the latest hair trends.

Here’s his take on what’s hot for spring hair!

Cut:  What About Bob?

The”Modern Bob” is achieved by creating a bob with shorter hair in the bang area and layers all around for texture. This chic look can be achieved (depending on the hair type) by blow drying with a round brush or with rollers. When blow drying, apply a mouse, and for the finish, break up and define the layers with pomade.

Style:  Hang loose.

The trend has moved away from high crowns to looser softer hair – sometimes even straight, but a little frizzy (think Amy Winehouse). The edgy look is defined by texture and movement, yet it achieves an “un-kept” look.

Color:  Lighten up!
Blonds go blonder for the spring…with caramel and golden highlights. Chunky bold highlights or colors are out.  The new technique is “tone on tone” – blond on blond – to achieve a natural look. [Editor's Note:  Brunettes can join in the fun too, with subtle highlights or lowlights one shade away from your original hair color]

BONUS TIP:  Fight the Frizz.

Kupelian says Keratin anti-curl treatments are a great way to get your hair prepared for the spring humidity.
