Every year, le Chocolate Show in New York, Shangai, Japan, Moscow and Madrid showcases couture made entirely from chocolate, from the light and milky to the über-rich and decadent. Low and behold, this fascinating runway show offers plenty of inspiration-er, flavor-for a glamorous makeup look. TAAZ’s resident beauty experts got to thinking: we often wear chocolate all over our faces (usually in the form of crumbs) and truffles do such wonders for a woman’s mood…why not integrate this color into our  summer, even fall makeup palette? With so many variations, brown is anything but boring and it’s sweetest in shimmery, velvety or sheer textures. Chocolate makeup is perfect for gallery-hopping or lounging at Hollywood’s Hyde Lounge. Think of it as a neutral look with more intensity. Combined with bronzed skin, it’s all very J. Lo before she had the twins.

Chocolate Skin
Key to a chocolate makeup look is a bronzed complexion. Make brownish lipstick more wearable by warming the skin with a metallic, light-reflecting bronzer such as Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Peach Mosaic or Givenchy’s Prismissime Mat & Glow in Sun Caramel. Think of them as checkerboards of color that give the complexion the perfect milk chocolate-y hue. You can use either one to shade the face or apply the color in strategic touches for a sculpting, illuminating or perfecting effect. Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder is a great alternative if you want a shimmer-free tan.

Cocoa Powder Eyeshadow
Use a cocoa-colored eyeshadow in your crease and highlight eyelids with Makeup Forever Flash Color Cream in Gold, using your fingertips to apply it. This is the ultimate special effect makeup and it will brighten up your entire look. Hello chocolate goddess.

Brownish Lips
Refrain from pairing a nude-brown lipstick with liner that’s too-dark or too-brown or you run the risk of coming off as a “hoochie” (that look is so over). Try a lip color with soft shine, such as Clinique Different Lipstick in Tenderheart. It’s a blushing nude brown that’s neither too dark or too muddy. Skip the lip liner and apply the color with a precision lip brush. Caramel-colored gloss is the proverbial cherry on top of this delicious makeup look. You can give yourself a special treat by dusting your lips with a bit of real cocoa powder. Yummy. -Stephanie Simons
