With color like that, we’d be smiling too!
When we saw recent photos of Rachel Weisz at Cannes, we were stunned (major girl crush alert!). That dress. That skin. That hair. We had to have it.
To find out how to snag her beautiful, rich, hair color, we turned to our friends at ARROJO Studio in NYC, owned by Nick Arrojo, expert hairstylist on TLC’s What Not to Wear. Master Stylist Rudy Villalobos gave us the lowdown on this gorgeous color-from-within technique called “Diffused Color,” where the color is lighter underneath and darker on top – the opposite of traditional highlights.
Villalobos says to get this look, about 75% of the color is placed in “peek-a-boo” style. Your colorist can use either classic foiling (concentrating underneath) or a creative, free-hand painting technique.
But does this color work for everyone? Villalobos says this look is great for women who don’t want the commitment and upkeep of traditional highlights, as the color looks more natural and you don’t have to get as many touch ups (no roots!). To get the most flattering look, he says to stick with tones close to your natural color, as Rachel did with warm auburns and chestnuts.
No fuss, no roots, just natural, radiant color worthy of a French red carpet? You had us at “bonjour.”
