Apparently fall 2009 is going to be the season for leggings and tights. And from the designer photos, it is going to be a shiny, metallic season. And in our opinion, it is going to be a scary season. Let’s just say that we won’t be seen strutting around wearing gold rainbow leggings anytime soon.

Don’t get us wrong, we love tights and leggings here at BX. We especially love a tight/legging that has some cute detailing, like a subtle print or sheen. But leg wear that conjures up images of new-age spacesuit? We’ll pass thanks.

These leggings aren’t just going to be in attention-grabbing colors – apparently that is not enough.

According to WWDFashion, “United Legwear is even producing a slick set of tights decorated with heat-transferred nail heads.” We just can’t grasp the logic behind ever needing, or wanting, nail heads heat-transferred on your leggings. Nor can we stop wondering how much they weigh and what the possibility is of getting injured by an industrial pair of leggings.

We fully support trying new styles and going out of a fashion limb, but there is a fine line between edgy and cool and just plain over-the-top. Seriously, Swarovski encrusted leggings…isn’t that a bit much? Sometimes less is more.
