Beauty and the Bride: The Final Countdown

We’re at 10 days people.  Ten of them.  Next weekend, I’m getting married.  As in — let’s look at the ten day forecast, and oh-look, there’s my wedding day.

Here are some words of wisdom to others finding themselves in the same situation.

It’s crunch time.  And now, more than ever, it is time to rely on the professionals that you’re paying to do their jobs.  Are you a bridesmaid and worried your clip won’t keep your hair up?  Stop.  You’re paying a stylist to do your hair.  Let her do her job and earn the money you’re paying her.  Are you getting substantial dress alterations?  Breathe.  Stand still. And let the woman measure you.  And trust that she’s done this before and she knows what she’s doing.  Are you a bride and still eating that cheese and chicken nonsense you shouldn’t be?  Rely on that trainer you paid for and go to the gym.  Seriously.  Go to the gym.  Right now.  Put down the wine glass.  Go to the gym.  I’ll wait.

You back?  Hi.  Your wedding is almost out of your hands.  And you’ve spent months doing research and paying the bills for the professionals you’ve hired.  Take a deep breath, get your beauty sleep and let them do their jobs.  It’s what you’ve paid them for.  Enjoy your wedding.  And the 10 days leading up to it.  Because that’s all that’s left.

It doesn’t matter anyway.  Your groom will think you’re beautiful… mostly because he doesn’t think any effort goes into all of this anyway.  Little does he know.

With that, I say adieu.  I don’t know.  Maybe I’ll have something to say next week, with only four days left.  But at this point, you’ve all been on the journey with me, and I thank you for holding my hand through it.  After returning from the honeymoon (and gluttony there had), I’m sure we’ll have more to discuss.  In the meantime, stay beautiful.
