Similar to the tale of the Beauty and the Beast, Beauty and the Bride (BATB) will examine a relationship fraught with mistrust, deception, fear, and hopefully, a happy ending. BeautyXposé will follow BATB as she traverses the perilous landscape of wedding-day beauty leading up to her September nuptials. Have a question for BATB? A topic you’d like her to cover? A conspiracy you’ve uncovered in the Wedding Industrial Complex (WIC) you’d like exposed? Email her at: beautyandthebride@beautyxpose.com.
- Does bridal beauty stand the test of time?
Last weekend I helped my mom move out of the house she has lived in for the past 20 years. Among the boxes, my sister and I found my mom’s wedding dress and pictures from “the big day.” Looking at my mom’s stretchy polyester wedding dress and pictures of her beaming with simply done hair and elaborate blue eye shadow got me thinking – how timeless is my bridal beauty look?
I’m not one to follow every single passing trend. I have not worn tights since Lindsay brought them back last year, and I’m not planning on starting. But I do read the fashion and beauty blogs relentlessly, and some things do rub off.
Considering my anticipated bridal look, I think I’ll do ok. My hairstyle, long and curly with just a bit on top pulled back and teased, may look a bit dated when my daughter looks at it 30 years from now. But my make-up will be much more of a natural look, one I’m hoping my daughter won’t cringe at as I did at the blue eyeshadow.
Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
