Most of us beauty and fashion buffs have brutally forced our poor, defenseless feet into every type of shoe known to mankind, thus leaving them blistered and sore. Here at BX, we got wind of YogaToes®, a product that claims to provide “ultimate freedom after shoes.” One of our BX staffers tried them out as a courtesy to the feet she has tortured over the years and documented what she found.
How They Work:
YogaToes claim to give you “ultimate freedom after shoes.” They are a device that you place between your toes to help stretch, strengthen and straighten toes. YogaPro, the company behind YogaToes, claim they work while you relax to help stretch and strengthen foot muscles, straighten bent toes, realign bones and increase circulation. The company recommends that you start with 10-15 minutes a day and work your way up to an hour of wear.
BX tested the YogaToes Signature Set, which come with one pair of YogaToes, two YogaToes Mini Massagers and Grapefruit Ginger- Moisturizing Cream (retails at $69.95 at YogaPro.com). YogaToes Mini Massagers are little vibrating devices that attach to the top of your YogaToes with a clip, claiming to relieve stress and tension, soothe stiff muscles, relieve pain, increase circulation and re-energize feet and toes. The Grapefruit Ginger – Moisturizing Foot Cream is a shea butter-based cream that moisturizes and softens dry feet.
First Impressions:
The YogaToes seem like toe separators that you see in spas for pedicures, but these bad boys look like they are on some serious steroids.
What are these silver things? They look like bullets…or something else we’ve seen before.
This is one teeny-tiny tub of lotion. Isn’t it supposed to smell like Grapefruit Ginger? It smells more like plastic than anything.
Reality Check:
For the first few minutes, there aren’t any apparent results. However, around minute five, the YogaToes start to be a little painful. Nothing unbearable, but definitely not something you look forward to. After taking off the YogaToes you can see spaces between your toes, which isn’t a daily occurrence for most. But, unfortunately, your feet will shrivel back to normal after a few minutes.
The Mini Massagers have a very powerful vibration, but they don’t actually do anything. They just gently shake your feet instead of giving them a therapeutic, tension-relieving massage.
The Foot Cream moisturizes pretty well, leaving your feet smooth and silky. However, the smell is a big let down. Instead of leaving your feet smelling of tropical fruit, they leave them smelling as if you had traipsed through a field of plastic.
The BX Staffer’s Two Cents:
“My feet did feel a little less used and abused. There was a slight new spring in my step. But is that spring worth $69.95? I think not; I am not going to foot that bill. I think I will just use a couple of the spa-style toe separators at once and use the money I saved to treat myself to something fancy. Maybe a foot massage that actually works?”
