After splitting from long-time beau Reggie Bush, TV personality Kim Kardashian also parted ways with her naturally dark hair. No, she didn’t shave it off – but she did significantly lighten her locks, arriving at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards with a whole new look.
Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, known for transforming the likes of Natasha Bedingfield, Amanda Bynes and Michelle Williams, among others, has been working with Kim Kardashian for about two years. But how is he keeping up with this Kardashian’s new looks? Dedivanovic gave BeautyXpose the inside scoop, along with tips to snag Kim’s look for yourself!BX: Were you shocked when you found out Kim lightened up her locks?
MD: I wasn’t shocked because we had spoken about it before hand. I was more excited for change. I knew that she would look stunning but when I first saw her, I was breathless. She looked so fresh and just gorgeous.
BX: What tweaks did you have to make to her makeup routine?
MD: Some slight tweaking to the makeup. Her brows are lighter now, so that was the more drastic change. I went a bit darker with the skin tone and kept everything monochromatic and sheer.
BX: What should someone who’s made a drastic hair color change (from dark to light and vice versa) keep in mind when it comes to their makeup?
MD: Their eyebrows. If you’re going to make a drastic change in hair color, make sure that you change your brow color as well to look as natural as possible. Also, keep in mind that you have to maintain the brows (i.e., plucking strays and touching up the color) as often as necessary.
BX: Can you give us a brief rundown of what you did for Kim’s look at the Teen Choice 2009 awards?
MD:
Skin
I started out with one of my favorite moisturizers – Ultimate Youth Creme by Estee Lauder. For foundation, I went with Dior Nude Hydrating Glow Foundation followed by NARS pressed powder. I used Make Up For Ever Lift concealer under the eyes.
Eyes
Use Chopper eye shadow by Urban Decay all over the lid. Sweep Mac’s eye pencil in Fascinating along the inner rim of the eye. Apply Cork eye shadow by MAC with a Q-tip along the lower lash line. On the inner corner of the eyes, use B-dazzle by GIELLA. Lancôme Hypnose mascara on top and bottom lashes.
Eyebrows are slightly filled in with lingering brow pencil by MAC then blended and softened with a Q-tip.
Cheeks
Lancôme Star Bronzer in Bronze Rich framing the entire face and on hollows of cheeks. Apply some to the neck and chest area as well. Brush Orgasm by NARS on the apples of the cheeks.
Lips
Fill in lips with Spice liner by MAC and follow with MAC’s Dazzleglass in Smile.
