Great expectations are what we at BX have. We expect our beauty products to work, and sometimes, to perform miracles. That’s why when we received HydroPeptide Lash ($150 retail for a six-month supply), we were through the roof with excitement. Some of us started imagining looking like this, naturally. Of course, that’s not actually feasible, and our unrealistic expectations got a readjustment.
However, so did our lashes!
One lucky BX staffer was nominated to do a highly-scientific test (aka diligently apply a thin line across the lashes nightly) and monitor the results (aka photograph lashes).
What it Does
According to the brand, HydroPeptide Lash’s “Reconstructive Peptides strengthens and conditions the hair follicle, preventing lash breakage. Stimulating ingredients circulate protein-rich amino acids and super-oxygenate blood to the hair follicles. Antioxidants fight free radical damage that weakens hair and causes it to break.”
The company says this will all result in visibly thicker, longer and fuller lashes, with noticeable change within days and a transformation within four to six weeks. You can also use the product to fill in sparse brows, but we stuck with just the lashes.
What to Actually Expect

Before
When first applied, HydroPeptide Lash gives off an unusual sensation. It tingles and burns where it’s applied — which is a tad unsettling. However, we decided that that was the product working. (Fingers crossed there’s no latent reaction waiting to burst through! Oh, the price of beauty…)
We could see the beginnings of something happening within the first week of use, and after a couple of weeks, we definitely saw the difference. While lashes didn’t erupt into a lush imitation of a mascara commercial, growth did occur. What we didn’t think about was that new lashes would grow in and be shorter than full-grown lashes, which isn’t a terribly noticeable thing, but is funny when examining them in a mirror. It also thickened the lash line. Lashes not only grew in next to other lashes, but also slightly behind them.
The result? A decidedly thicker lash line! (Which sounds like what the company called fuller.)
