I don’t think a day goes by when we don’t hear at least one person mention how much they would just DIE for a piece of chocolate. Whether you are having a bad break-up, an unfortunate day at work, PMS or just the simple love for deliciousness, chocolate seems to solve everything. Given our love for chocolate, we felt it to be our journalistic duty (and tasty pleasure) to test out every chocolate-inspired beauty product we could find, from lip balms to self-tanners. Stay tuned as we gluttonously adventure through a variety of tasty and aromatic chocolate beauty products.
Remember when you were a little kid and you got to lick the mixing bowl clean of brownie or cake batter? You’d stick your face right into the bowl, lick it and then realize that while the bowl is clean, your face is not. But what if by covering your face in chocolate, you could have been cleaning your face rather than the bowl? Well…your wish is granted. We smeared our faces in a multitude of chocolate products, all in the name of beauty, and now want to tell you what happened (hint: wonderful things).
Just like our body products adventure, we started our face products by testing out an exfoliator- Rosa de Cocoa Mineral Peel (formerly known as Chocolate Roses) by Dead Sea Bulk Materials. At first there is a slight burning, but didn’t someone say, “Beauty is pain?” In reality, the burning sensation isn’t all that bad, and the outcome makes it all worthwhile. Our skin was softer and more radiant (once the redness subsided after just 30 short minutes). Like any peel, it is important to leave time between the process and showing your face in public. Available online, Rosa de Cocoa Mineral Peel retails for $105 for a 20 oz. container, or $550 for 4.3 kg.We loved lathering our faces in chocolate so much that we needed to do it again and again and again. We smeared our faces with Chocolate Masque by Hemloq. This Chocolate Masque (which is also a mild exfoliant) has a more apparent citrus smell than chocolate and tingles a tad when first applied. The masque left our skin soft and feeling as clean as ever. Chocolate Masque is available online for just $34.
We didn’t just exfoliate with products from Dead Sea Bulk Materials, we also covered our faces with its Rosa de Cocoa Mineral Masque. After letting the masque dry and washing it off, our skin felt firmer and appeared clearer. And since it’s made with some tasty ingredients (cocoa and cucumber along with many others) it will hard to take the advice on the packaging: “DO NOT EAT YOUR FACE WHEN WEARING THIS MASQUE!!!” Available online, Rosa de Cocoa Mineral Masque sells for $65 for 5 oz., $105 for 18 oz. or $550 for 4.3 kg.We enjoy eating cupcakes, so we figured we would enjoy smothering our faces in a CUPCAKE fresh face mask by LUSH. The mask removed our dry, flaky skin and seemed to just absorb away any signs of oily skin. This mask is made so fresh that it must be kept in the refrigerator and even has an expiration date. Since the ingredients are so fresh, shipping is near impossible, and they’re only available in retail stores ($7.95).
