Chocolate Craving: Lip-Licking Good Beauty Products

A day doesn’t go by when we don’t hear at least one person mention how much they would just DIE for a piece of chocolate. Whether you are having a bad break-up, an unfortunate day at work, PMS or just the simple love for deliciousness, chocolate seems to solve everything. Given our love for chocolate, we felt it to be our journalistic duty (and tasty pleasure) to test out every chocolate-inspired beauty product we could find from lip balms to self-tanners. Stay tuned for the next few Wednesdays as we gluttonously adventure through an array of tasty and aromatic chocolate beauty products.

“A moment on the lips, forever on the hips.”  Or so they thought. This week, at BeautyXposé, we have found a devilishly decadent way to get the chocolate taste without the extra pudge. No, we did not genetically engineer a magical no-fat, no-calorie chocolate bar. Instead, we tried a plethora of chocolate-inspired lip products.

lipscrub
We started our chocolately adventure with Coco-Zen Edible Lip Scrub in Chocolate Brown Sugar. This delicious lip scrub is as easy to use as nibbling on a creamy bar of chocolate. Just press on your finger, rub onto your lips, rub your lips together and then lick off the scrub. Our lips were left feeling smooth and it didn’t hurt that it tasted like we were eating chocolate. And if Chocolate Brown Sugar isn’t your thing, you can chose from the six other chocolate flavors. The scrub comes in two sizes, a 0.5 oz tin for $6.50 and a 3 oz tin for $14.

After exfoliating, we moved on to lip balms to moisturize our newly smoothed kissers.

Cocoa/Lime Hemp lip balm by Hothouse Botanicals offered a different twist on the chocolate flavor. The chocolate lime flavor was a fresh and new option that we have never seen before. The balm, which comes in chap-stick form, glides on smoothly. We automatically noticed the difference; it was as if our lips had been drenched in moisture. And unlike a lot of drug store options, the balm didn’t wear off after only a few minutes. Considering the quality is so much better than a generic balm, we love the fact that it is just as cheap at only $3.99.

mintchocolate-lip
If you enjoy mint chocolate chip ice cream or Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies, then the Mint Chocolate Chip lip balm from Herban Lifestyle will win you over. It adds a subtle sheen, somewhere between a gloss and a chap stick. This balm literally smells like you could scoop it out, put it in a sundae bowl and eat it with a spoon and some sprinkles. What’s even better is that it costs about the same amount as an ice cream cone, just $5.

palmers-lip-butter
Kristin has an unhealthy obsession with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter body lotion, so she just had to try out their Cocoa Butter lip butters, which come in Dark Chocolate & Peppermint or Dark Chocolate & Cherry. Both flavors smelled exactly like their namesakes, making us wish that they were edible. The butters go on smoothly and evenly, and they leave a subtle gloss. Even better? They retail for just around $1.99 a tube.
