Get the Celebrity Looks: 2010 Emmy Awards

The 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards delivered some shocking wins for sure, but when it came to the stars’ looks, they dazzled right on cue. Check out these tips to recreate some of our favorite Emmy looks straight from the celebrities’ stylists themselves!

Hair: Emily Blunt and Rose Byrne

From sleek waves to tousled tresses, celebrity hair styles ran the gamut at the Emmys. We were particularly smitten by two contrasting looks worn by Emily Blunt and Rose Byrne. Blunt’s long-time stylist, Liani Reeves (co-owner of the new Essensuals London Salon on Melrose Ave. in L.A.), channeled old Hollywood glamour by creating a wavy, low updo at the nape of her neck, paired with a stunning diamond barrette.

Reeves, who also styled Blunt on her wedding day, created her sophisticated style after being inspired by finger waves from the ’20s. “We wanted to create a look that was very different from any that Emily had worn before,” Reeves said. “Once I saw the gown, I knew that a modern look based on the waved looks of the 20’s was the perfect compliment for the design.”

To create this timeless style, Reeves relied on Moroccanoil hair care products (available in salons nationwide). She prepped Blunt’s locks with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo to leave it soft, shiny and well conditioned. From there, she mixed a cocktail of Moroccanoil Intense Curl Cream and the original Moroccanoil Treatment, working it through the middle to the ends to create control and a natural-looking hold. Then Reeves created a deep side part and pin curled the hair in three alternating rows all over Blunt’s head (counter-clockwise/clockwise/counter-clockwise), misted on some Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray and let her hair air dry. Once dry, Reeves unpinned the curls, brushed out her hair, and then repinned the ends loosely at the nape of her neck, allowing a few waves to cascade out at her temple.

While Emily Blunt sported a sleeker style, Rose Byrne, on the other hand, went for a decidedly more untamed look, with a loose, wavy updo that complemented her grecian dress (we wonder if she and Kim Kardashian swapped notes).

John Frieda Luxurious Volume Hairspray
John Frieda International Creative Consultant Harry Josh created Byrne’s hair style after first prepping her hair for a full week with John Frieda Root Awakening Health Infusing Shampoo & Conditioner to ensure her hair was shiny, healthy and manageable for styling. Then on the big day, he applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Bountiful Body Mousse to her wet hair and blew it out using a boar-bristle brush. The mousse helped Josh achieve high volume that would easily mold hair into curls, creating a texturized base needed to create the look.

From there, Josh used a 3/4-inch curling iron throughout Byrne’s hair and pulled a portion of the curls into a ponytail at the crown of her head. He then pulled the rest of her hair into a high bun, pulling out individual curls for a Grecian-inspired style with a modern twist. Josh set the entire look and secured the style with John Frieda Luxurious Volume All-Out Hold Hairspray. All John Frieda hair products are available at food, drug and mass market retailers nationwide.

Makeup: Jenna Fischer

While her character’s look is understated on “The Office,” in reality, Jenna Fischer lets loose and is smoking hot. At the 2010 Primetime Emmy Awards, she sizzled in a crimson, vintage Versace dress, paired with a fresh, neutral makeup look created by makeup artist Molly R. Stern.

The key to this gorgeous look? Stern said she created Fischer’s overall look to highlight her features, without overpowering her.

To start, Stern prepped Jenna’s skin with Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist, then lightly moisturized her skin with SK-11 facial treatment essence. She then created a foundation base by applying Chantecaille Future Skin foundation.

“On Jenna’s cheek, I wanted the look to be flushed, but not too rosy,” said Stern.  ”I chose COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach for the perfect glow.”

For Fischer’s eyes, Stern swept the lid with By Terry Ombre Blackstar in bronze fire.  She then dusted the metallic beige of the NARS duo shadow in Rajasthan over the top and up into the crease.  For her lash line, Stern smudged out the COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast in Brown Blaze (read our review on it here) and then coated her lashes with COVERGIRL LashBlast Fushion in Brown.

To finish the look with a defined, soft lip, Stern used the sheer stain of Josie Maran magic marker lip and cheek stain in Mambo and layered it with COVERGIRL Wetslicks Amazemint Lipgloss in Freedom of Peach.
