Ah, what exactly won’t women smear on their bodies in the name of beauty? First, professional bird poop facials, and now, for the do-it-yourself crowd, we present the face cream that has Dutch women drooling — De Tuinen Snail Gel.
According to the brand, this slimy skin salve is derived from secretions of Chilean snails. (Why they couldn’t source slime from local snails is unknown, but doesn’t it sound exotic knowing it’s from Chilean snails?) Purportedly, the secretion, which is usually used to repair the snail’s own shell, has been found to be “smoothing and strengthening” as a beauty treatment.
If you feel like becoming a real slime ball, simply smooth on De Tuinen Snail Gel on your face and body to “support the skin’s elasticity,” leaving you with “silky soft and smooth skin.” Of course, the product also includes glycolic acid and collagen, among other scientifically-proven ingredients, but we’re sure it’s the snail slime that’s really doing the trick.
De Tuinen Snail Gel (about $31) is available (via snail mail?) from the health supplement store Holland & Barrett.
