I don’t blow dry my hair often. I see it as a waste of electricity when my hair will dry just as well – if not slightly slower – on its own. So when I had the opportunity to test the self-proclaimed world’s first eco-friendly hair dryer, the Parlux 3800, I was excited to see if it would change my habits.

The Parlux 3800 is considered eco-friendly for several reasons. Created from recycled raw materials and decorated with non-toxic paints, this hair dryer is completely eco-conscious in its construction. Lower energy consumption saves you money on your electric bill, as the Parlux 3800 dries your hair faster than the average dryer. No matter the speed or temperature at which you use this dryer, it never emits any toxins that could affect the ozone layer.

Even the packaging is eco-friendly – all the packing materials are recycled, biodegradable and non-toxic. I was very impressed with the plain cardboard box in which the product arrived. Clearly the company focuses its attention on product quality rather than superfluous packaging.

As far as performance goes, this hair dryer lives up to its promises. It dried my hair quickly without frying it, and the nozzle attachments help direct the hot air exactly where I want it.

Has the Parlux 3800 changed my hair styling habits? I don’t think so. I’m still unable – probably due to my inexperience – to achieve that perfectly-styled look, and while the quick-drying technology means less time holding a dryer against my head, it’s still a lot less stress on my arms to just go the lazy-girl route and let my hair air dry.

There are currently only four Parlux 3800s in the United States, and they sell for about $230. Although they’re not yet available in stores, I advise any avid blow dryer user to check out this eco-conscious product.

Thanks, but would have been much more beneficial if the review was completed by someone who actually used hairdryers

Thanks for doing this review! I have been contemplating either this or the 3500 model – think I am more likely to get this one as it's environmentally friendly :)
