Velvet has always been a texture I’ve been fascinated with, but not bold enough to wear after the age of eight. However, this holiday season I have seen fabric transition to high fashion with velvet clothing and accessories popping up on many store mannequins. The other week I took it upon me to try on a black velvet skirt from Urban Outfitters, just to see if I could pull the material off, and instantly fell in love!
Velvet is the perfect texture to add a touch of uniqueness to any winter outfit. Whether it’s a velvet blazer or a scarf with a simple accent of velvet, the material creates an expensive and festive look for the season. To ease your way into the velvet scene, start by replacing some of your every day items, such as black jeans, with the velvet version of them. You’ll find yourself receiving many compliments for your creative choice in fabric.
I plan to wear my black velvet skirt on New Years Eve with some type of top and beaded, shimmery belt. Find your own velvet touch this season now!
