Be like a Bond girl with the OPI Skyfall Nail Polish Collection
Whether it’s starring Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig, every time I watch a James Bond flick, I am inspired to get glam and buff in the hopes of becoming a Bond girl. Throughout the decades, Bond girls have proven to be fatally alluring, and who wouldn’t want to be considered drop dead gorgeous?
While I still have yet to see the latest James Bond movie, “Skyfall,” one thing’s for sure — I’m in love with the movie’s namesake nail polish collection. The OPI Skyfall nail polish collection is packed with vampy, shimmery polishes and bold metallics — exactly what you can imagine Bond girls wearing. In fact, the latest Bond girl is wearing a couple of the OPI colors in the new movie (the color Skyfall on the tops of nails with the undersides painted in GoldenEye).
Six of the OPI Skyfall nail polishes play off the movie’s seductive theme, and six give a more dangerous look. Here’s a rundown of the 12 limited-edition OPI Skyfall nail polishes.
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service: This gunmetal shimmer with a greenish hue is one of my favorites in the line. Can’t you just imagine pointing a pistol at some rogue assassins while wearing this polish?
Moonraker: This silver metallic goes on as smoothly as a James Bond pick-up line. No streaks, just a silky texture.
Live and Let Die: OPI describes this as a jet black, but to me it looks more like a very deep hunter green — almost black — with some subtle shimmer.
GoldenEye: This is as gold as it gets! This polish looks decadent on its own, but it’s also great for layering over some of the darker polishes in the collection. For a twist on your typical French manicure, paint GoldenEye on your tips over a dark polish.
Die Another Day: This metallic polish is a hot orange-y red that just screams sexy. You really can’t go wrong with this nail polish if you’re looking to make a statement.
Casino Royale: Plum passion is what this cream nail polish is all about! It dries down a little darker than it appears in the bottle, but it’s gorgeous nonetheless.
You Only Live Twice: This is my favorite polish in the OPI Skyfall nail polish collection, hands down. It’s actually my favorite polish ever at the moment (but you know I have a short attention span). Even though I tried my best, I just couldn’t get a picture that would do it justice. This magenta looks like it’s a solid metallic in some lights, but in others you can really see the subtle gold glitter that’s also interspersed throughout. If you can only buy one polish this year, THIS IS IT!!!
Tomorrow Never Dies: If you’re feeling bold, bust out this bright purple/blue polish for a metallic manicure. This is the most shocking color of the bunch.
The World is Not Enough: This is such a unique shimmer nail polish! It’s a rosy silver/pewter that brings out warmth and works well with any outfit.
The Spy Who Loved Me: Just like You Only Live Twice, this nail polish has both a metallic look and a subtle gold shimmer in the right light. This time, though, it’s a poppin’ cherry red. Can you say, “sex appeal?”
The Living Daylights: If you like big, chunky glitter, than this polish is for you. Unfortunately, it’s just not my cup of tea…or should I say it doesn’t float the olive in my shaken martini. (Groan!) The polish itself is clear, and I had to do three coats to get this level of glitter applied, and it’s hard to get it to spread evenly throughout the clear polish.
Skyfall: The OPI Skyfall nail polish that is named after the movie is a deep rusty brick red. I love how decadent it looks on its own, but it also looks amazing when you layer GoldenEye over it (hint: try just layering the “ring finger” nail for a fun twist).
I must say that this is one of my favorite collections as a whole that OPI has ever released. Which OPI Skyfall nail polish do you think makes you feel most like a bombshell Bond girl?
