Waxing is an excellent way to remove hair from the root, leaving skin soft and smooth for up to three weeks. Waxing is a great alternative to shaving or other hair removal techniques because it lasts the longest; additionally, it exfoliates the top layer of dead skin cells, leaving skin glowing and radiant. Read on for some basic tips on choosing the best waxing style for you.

Leg Waxing

For legs to be waxed, the hair must be approximately one-quarter of an inch long. This allows the wax to completely surround the hair follicle and pull it out from the root. Usually, legs are waxed from the ankle to just below the knee. If you desire more, however, talk to a beauty salon professional to have your entire leg waxed.

Bikini Wax

A bikini wax is a good way to avoid shaving this sensitive area. It can also help reduce painful and unsightly ingrown hairs. Look for a quality and professional venue to do your bikini wax to ensure that the procedure will be performed safely and cleanly. Also, make sure the area is clean before waxing and that the hair is no longer than a quarter inch long. Hair longer than this will result in a painful waxing session and could possibly cause bleeding as well.

There are several styles you can choose from for your bikini wax as well. One look is complete hair removal. If you want a slightly fun, edgy or just different look, you can go for a small triangle, rectangular strip or even other fun shapes.

Arm Waxing

Having your arms waxed is a nice way to create a clean and elegant look, especially if you are fair skinned with dark, thick or coarse hair, which can be very visible on the skin. Hair can be waxed from the top of the shoulder all the way to the tops of the fingers for a clean and polished look.

Facial Waxing

Most women begin to wax upper lip, chin or sideburn hair in their early twenties. This is a good option for women with fair skin and dark or coarse hair that can appear stubbly. Good options here include pre-made wax strips that can simply be peeled apart, pressed onto the face, and then ripped off to leave skin soft and hair free.

After waxing, skin can be a bit sensitive, so be sure to use gentle products and do not try to exfoliate for at least 24 hours.
