J Brand’s most recent advertisement in Vogue Magazine opened my eyes to one of fall’s hottest trends within the denim industry. For summer we saw colored denim all over the place. This fall, however, color continues to splash onto the scene, but with a twist. The advertisement showcases brocade patterns, which add an edgy, texturized look to denim.
The ad that started it all!
After seeing this from J Brand, one of my favorite denim lines of all time, I had to further my research and look into other ways to get the look. It appears to me that J Brand is the leader of the look and only a few major denim lines are launching their own version of the patterned denim for the upcoming season, but it’s a trend I can see catching on real quick! So far, most styles are a skinny jean but that’s not to say we wont be seeing boot cuts and flares depending on how well-received this look becomes.
Beautiful brocade
My own advice for those looking to rock this look come fall- pair with a plain sweater or tee shirt for a more subdued look. Pattern-on-pattern can work, but it can also be dangerous. There borders a fine line between looking well put together and looking like you got dressed in the dark.
