I was never a heel type of girl. Keyword here: was. I don’t know what changed, maybe my love for classy nights out on the town, perhaps my excitement for events that boast a cocktail dress and blazer dress code. Regardless, I have quickly transformed from the 5’5” flat-wearing girl to a 5’9” wedge lover.
Yes, they’re cute, and easily dress up any outfit, and while I do admit that they can be slightly painful, they’re also useful too! Think crowded night out at a bar with your friends. You split up and can’t seem to track them down. Now, this is when your 4”-5” wedges come in handy! With these, you’re most likely taller than a bunch of the other women in there. This may sound silly, but I’m being completely serious. I’ve found that when I’m wearing my awesome wedges, I’m able to find my group much more quickly because I’m that much taller. Plus, ordering drinks doesn’t become this competitive waiting game. You’re tall, you can make eye contact easily, and boom – there’s your drink! You know, for those of you that are part of the over 21 crowd, of course.
I feel like by the time fall rolls around, everyone’s breaking out their black and brown shoes. But, colored wedges are still going strong this year. Some of my favorites are included below!
These J.Crew Martina Patent Wedges ($228) are totally classic. These apricot mist patent leather wedges are perfect for both the workday and your nightlife.
This Wright Fabric Wedge Pump by Mix No. 6 ($45) are my new favorites. I spotted them in DSW one afternoon, and had to have them. Now, I have them in black too!
If you haven’t heard of Shoemint yet, you must fix that immediately. I mean, doesn’t this Kristin Wedge ($80) talk for itself? These patterned wedges are perfect if you’re feeling daring.
Colorblocked, neon, bright suede, etc., what type of wedges do you like the most?
