Worth the Splurge: Hair Tools and Clothing Items

I may or may not have gone a little spend-crazy a couple of weeks ago. I was about to accept a new job, and I figured that my soon-to-be higher salary justified a few splurges that I had once resisted. Let’s be honest, there are a million splurge-worthy items I’ve been lusting over lately, but I knew I only had a certain amount of money to blow before it became downright irresponsible (I’m so mature). After much rational (read totally irrational) deliberation over the necessity factor of each item, I settled on three: a new straightener, a real leather jacket and real leather riding boots.

Splurge-worthy fashion and beauty

Worth every penney (and I spent a lot of them, trust me)!

The first splurge was the ghd Classic Styler. If I’m being honest, I used some Amazon gift cards I had saved up to snag this little piece of heaven. However, I would have paid the full sticker price even without the gift cards. It makes straightening hair super speedy, and it leaves my hair silky smooth. Every morning when I do my hair, I now see hearts, rainbows and butterflies.

Look at that beauty!

The next two splurges were made in one day. First came the boots, then the jacket. I was half an hour early for my hair appointment at Sassoon, so I decided to pop into Marshalls rather than sit around and wait. The second I walked through the front doors, I noticed a shining beacon of shoe porn out of the corner of my right eye. Obviously I casually walked (read booked it) over to the shelves to dig through the boxes to find my size. The second I slipped these Rebecca Minkoff Harness boots on to my lonely, bootless feet, I knew I had met my soulmate (pun so intended). They go well with everything and make me feel so trendy.

These make me want to frolick and ride horses

Last but not least, I spotted the leather bomber jacket of my dreams while perusing the racks of Gap with my cousin who recently moved to Boston for college. It was gracing a mannequin, and I thought … “damn, I want to be that mannequin.” The leather feels like butter, and I imagine I look like a bad ass whenever I wear it. Slipping into the bomber makes me feel like everything will be alright. I haven’t taken a picture of it yet, so more to come on that.

I plan to do a more in-depth review on all of these three purchases coming up, so keep your eyes open.

Have you made any splurges lately? What is your most splurge-worthy purchase?
