Beauty Review: DuWop Private Lipsticks and Blushbooster

This season, lipsticks are all about color. If you’re sick of your ho-hum hues, DuWop has two new shades of its Private Lipstick collection that are must-haves: Private Pink and Private Coral.

Duwop's Private Pink and Private Coral

What’s so secretive about these private lipsticks? Well first, the brand claims each lipstick is “color changing” and “morphs into each woman’s personal shade..the first of its kind to transform a single shade of lipstick into an endless variety of hues.”  While I’m not so sure about that (the colors stayed true from the tube when applied on my lips), I do know that they are pretty amazing.

Both Private Coral and Private Pink ($22 each) are matte colors that go on incredibly silky. You definitely don’t get that waxy feeling that some lipsticks still have (hello grandma lips). Duwops matte lipsticks really soften your pout and the colors swipe on very potent, so what you see is what you get — there’s nothing sheer about them.

Because Private Coral and Private Pink are pretty intense shades — which is perfectly on-trend this season — you might want to keep the rest of your makeup look simple and classic.  I prefer a pop of bright lip color paired with a cat eye using a matte liner, to give an updated twist on old Hollywood glamour.

For your cheeks, try amping up your look with a pop of DuWop’s new Blushbooster in Apple, a luminous rosy color that works well with either of the Private Lipstick colors (I’ve got it on in both pictures above….and please forgive me for the fuzzy phone photos).

The Blushbooster ($22) is designed to be layered over your regular blush to give it extra oomph (aka a hint of color and fine shimmer), but I found it works well alone as a more sheer colored blush — again, perfect for a subtle makeup look when you’re really focusing on making your lips pop with pigment.

In my beauty book, DuWop definitely hit a home run with its new makeup shades. Do you agree?

Honestly, I think you should try out all four of the colors it comes in and decide which you like best, since all four would create different, great looks on tanned skin. If you're looking for a pop of color, try Apple!
