Football’s back (though my team got pummeled in game one), pumpkin beer is on tap and my Keurig is filled with Green Mountain Pumpkin Spice coffee. And while the weather hasn’t been cooperating enough for me to pull out my favorite sweaters yet, my nails are helping cure my bad case of fall fever, thanks to the OPI Germany nail polish collection.

Inspired by the country that just screams fall (Oktoberfest, anyone?), the OPI Germany Collection is packed with an array of 12 polishes in hues that are awesomely autumnal.

In past fall seasons, we’ve seen very dark, almost-black-looking shades and various greiges (gray+beige), and while the Germany collection has its share of deeper colors, most of them are pure colors that don’t look as if they started out black and have just a slightly different hint of purple or red. What’s more, the glitter stayed in the factory this time, and many of the nail polishes are either creams or have just a slight shimmer.

As usual, OPI has had fun with naming the Germany nail polishes:

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons — A sandy, honey hue. This dries down much more “sand” than it appears in the bottle.

Berlin There Done That — A lavender gray taupe that matches anything you wear.

Don’t Talk Bach To Me — A subdued mustardy lime. Personally, I think this would look best on darker skin shades (it makes my olive-based skin look sickly).

Schnapps Out Of  It! — A tawny cream with rose undertones. Very unique! Dries down a tad darker than in the bottle

Unfor-greta-bly Blue — A futuristic blue that really pops! The kid in me is reminded of the Cookie Monster.

Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! — A deep gray cream nail polish that applies very opaque. The brand describes this color as a “black olive,” but I personally just see a very deep gray.

Every Month is Oktoberfest — A deep, dark plum/black. This looks similar in the bottle to the next polish, German-icure by OPI, but it dries down with plum undertones. Also not as shimmery-appearing when applied.

German-icure by OPI — A rich, burgundy rust.  Again, this isn’t as shimmery as it appears in the bottle.
