Nude Nails: Polish Round Up

A neutral nail color is a must-have in the professional world. Lauren selects the polishes that leave your nails work-appropriate without being boring or bland. With these shades, nude can quickly become your favorite color — no clothing removal necessary.

I’ve worked in the jewelry department of a boutique for five years now, and although we don’t have many strict rules, nail color is one. When showing people high-end jewelry, it’s essential for my hands and nails to look clean and professional, and unfortunately gold sparkles or hot pink nails just don’t fit that mold. It sounds like a petty detail, but as a word of advice to all working girls out there- it matters, really.

I’ve been the one with chipped purple polish, and I’ve been the one with a flattering neutral, and the difference in my confidence and appeal to my professional peers is very much evident.  So, of course, I’ve become an expert in the field of nude neutral nail colors and have myself quite a collection — I’d still like to think of myself as a seasoned polish connoisseur (too far?) despite my limitation.

I’ve rounded up the neutral nudes that I can’t live without below.

Deborah Lippmann- I’m Not Innocent: $16

Why I love it: It goes on creamier with a bold matte look rather than sheer. Also, it’s a brighter natural shade that looks amazing with tan hands.

OPI- Sweetheart:  $7

Why I love it: It’s so sheer it’s almost clear, but the hint of pink undertones make nails look shiny and healthy with just one coat. Also, great color for a French manicure!

Deborah Lippmann- Satin Doll:  $16

Why I love it: This beigey neutral has a silvery sheen that makes it stick out as a truly unique shade — one that I’ve never seen replicated from any other nail polish lines. For a weekend or a party, add silver sparkles and it goes from professional to fabulous!

Essie- Allure: $8

Why I love it: Kate Middleton wore it on her wedding day and in my humble opinion, everything she does is perfect.
