Anne shares swatches of luscious lip colors in this bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie review. Products were sent for review, but opinions are all Anne’s own.
Moxie. It’s one of those words that is so underused, yet so vividly descriptive. It’s the perfect noun to describe a sassy, plump pout!
The folks over at bareMinerals seem to agree, which is likely why they named their latest line of lip products Marvelous Moxie.
The Moxie line features a total of 42 shades of lipstick ($18), lipgloss ($18) and lipliner ($15). I’m not exactly sure why, but the shades of each product are slightly different so they all have different names (meaning you can’t get the lipliner in the exact same shade of lipstick and lipgloss, but there are very close dupes that work well together).
The brand was kind enough to send over a sampling of the new line so I could share swatches with you all and tell you how they hold up in my own bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie review.
Marvelous Moxie Lipliners
The liners are really creamy, and “draw” on very easily — much like a cream eye pencil.
The most surprising part for me was how long these suckers last. I drew these swatches on my arm and tried to wash them off with regular hand soap, and I couldn’t budge all of the pigment. I literally had faint lines on my arm the next day at work (just ask my coworker, Alex).
Marvelous Moxie Lipglosses
The bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipglosses feature sheer-to-medium coverage, and many of them have a very slight shimmer to them.
They aren’t tacky at all. As in not even a tiny bit. And they have this minty taste and fresh feel on your lips, which makes me want to reapply them all the time (not that you need to). It’s like toothpaste for your lips.
Most of the glosses appear as a sheerer version of the tube color when applied to your lips, with the notable exception of Game Changer, which looks red in the tube, but a hot coral/pink when applied.
See what I mean?
Marvelous Moxie Lipsticks
These lipsticks rock. Seriously. As you can see, the pigments are so rich and creamy that what you see in the tube is exactly what you’re going to get when you put them on your lips. They are also really satin-y, and you honestly can’t feel anything on your lips after applying. That’s a huge plus for me, which I find is so rare in lipsticks — especially in really pigmented lipsticks (though there are a few other good contenders).
I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I just can’t get over how much I love the tubes these lipsticks come in. They have a nice hefty weight to them, which I always prefer in my lipsticks (they feel more luxurious that way somehow). They also have a very unique design where you have to push and slide a metal button on the side, and the tube slides down and out of the casing. It took me a second to figure it out, but once I did I was hooked on how futuristic it felt. (Yes, I’m a marketer’s dream.)
Here’s how four of the shades look on my pout worn over lipliner.
I’m sure the name has something to do with it, but I feel sassy and sexy when wearing these Marvelous Moxie lip products. Will your lips be showing their Moxie too?
