I’ve been consciously coupling with lip products lately. I have a history of being horrible at lip products outside of lip balms. Anything with color used to make me paranoid and hyperaware of every move I made. I was so worried about my lip color smudging and looking hooker-y (classy, I know) that I steered clear of anything that wasn’t, well, clear.
I eased myself in at first with natural colors. You can’t tell I messed up my lipstick if it’s the same-ish color as my actual lips, right? Right! Now that I’ve mastered the natural look and don’t act like a toddler in her mother’s makeup bag each time I wear lip products, I thought it was time to break into brighter colors.
So when Lancôme gave me the chance to test out their new Lancôme Lip Lover product in Framboise Etoile, I couldn’t say no. I tend to lean towards lipsticks and colored balms, so testing out a gloss was even further out of my comfort zone than simply a brightly colored lipstick. I was a bit nervous about the texture and color of this “dewy intense lip color,” but I was pleasantly surprised.
While this shade of Lancôme Lip Lover looks very orangey-red in the tube, it comes out a bit more pink on my lips. While this product is no doubt glossy, it’s the perfect amount tacky without being annoyingly sticky or runny. It’s lasting enough to withstand a cup of tea or my daily breakfast, all the while moisturizing my lips. And while some of the gloss does come off by the end of a meal, it leaves behind a nice stain so no one will notice you might need a little touchup before you can excuse yourself to the bathroom.
And an added bonus? I get compliments on the color each time I wear it out. If that’s not the sign of a fabulous product, I don’t know what is!
I can’t wait to get my hand on the other colors, especially Bouquet Final. At $23 it’s more expensive than a drugstore lip product, but I wouldn’t have second thoughts about digging out my wallet to buy some of the other colors.
