If you’ve been reading recently, you know that I’ve been rocking bold lips more often. While I’m pretty comfortable in pink and red lips at this point, I decided it was time to spread my little wings and fly the coop again. Destination – purple lips.
With Radiant Orchid being the color of the year, it’s a great time to be a purple lip product, and it’s an even greater time for me to embrace this trend into my life. Rather than break the bank of a trend that I’m 100% sure of just yet, I opted to test out two drugstore purple lipstick. On one of my many recent CVS trips, I scooped up two options – Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Uptown Mauve and Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Brazen Berry.
Uptown Mauve is a dark berry, the perfect red-lip alternative for Spring and Summer. It’s lovely and sophisticated, perfect for a day of work meetings or a nice night on the town.
Brazen Berry is a lighter, more playful purple. Perfect for a brunch or a girl’s night out, this shade livens up any look. I can’t wait to sport this as my first-ever day-to-day purple shade.
Neither product is the most moisturizing I’ve ever worn, but they aren’t drying and they last through a cup of tea or a plate of dinner. I think I’ll be going back for some additional shades!
If you can’t find either of these shades at your local drugstore, check out these other purple lipstick options:
Next lip trend on the docket – orange lips. Can I do it? I just don’t know!
