Maintaining those Spring Colors

The best thing about Spring? I’m sure saner people would say the blooming flowers and budding trees. And yes, those things are fabulous, but the bright fashion is my favorite part of Spring. After our long New England Winters, it’s such a joy to be able to bear my legs and wear bright clothes that don’t weigh approximately 500 pounds.

As a fellow fashionista, I’m sure you also turn to Pantone for color guidance throughout the year. I don’t feel the need to follow trends religiously, but I do enjoy making sure that I’m keeping up with the latest colors so that I don’t look like a #TBT in living form. So as Spring time seems to be here to stay in Boston, I decided it’s time to catch up on the hot colors and add a few splashes of these shades to my closet. Naturally, I headed to Nordstrom.com and put together a mini wish list, which you can see below:

New, cute cloths for Spring are all well and good, but there is nothing more depressing than realizing you’ve ruined your favorite frocks in the wash. One of the easiest ways to either go horribly right or horribly wrong with your wash? Picking the wrong laundry detergent.

Never fear, method has you (and your clothes) covered. Not only is their detergent effective and cute (I mean look at that packaging!), but method has also teamed up with ASOS to create a 10-piece line of A-FREAKING-DORABLE pieces.   I mean, just look at these tops, skirts and dresses. Yes, please!

method laundry detergent works to maintain both brights and whites, which is great for lazy people like me who don’t want to have more than one detergent. Plus, the detergent works great in cold water, which is a huge plus for anyone looking to save energy on each load of laundry. Saving the your clothes and the environment? Double win!

How do you maintain the vibrant colors in your Spring clothes?

Kicking Back

On the weekends, I like to kick back and stroll around town in something a bit more comfortable. This typically means jeans, a cozy top and flats. It’s still pretty chilly here in the Boston area, so I pushed my limits with this light jacket. I just can’t stand the sight of my Winter coats anymore.

On my way to meet up with Agnes for brunch, I pulled on my favorite military-inspired jacket and laced up my New Balance x Kate Spade sneakers. While I’m not normally a sneakers-outside-of-the-gym girl, these cuties work great with the athleisure trend so I couldn’t say no.

Valentine’s Day Date

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I won’t be doing anything romantic this Valentine’s Day. I’ll be visiting my grandparents in DC and getting afternoon tea. I mean, if that doesn’t spell HOT, I don’t know what does.

But just because I won’t be with my boyfriend this weekend doesn’t mean I can’t get dressed up in celebration in love. And with that, I wanted to share with you my planned Valentine’s Day OOTD.

It might be a bit over-the-top for afternoon tea with my grandma, but oh well. In the words of Oscar Wilde, “You can never be overdressed or overeducated.”

Snowy Sunday

Some New Englanders have been itching for a snow day. As far as Winters go, this one has been pretty mild. Sure, there were a few below-zero days, but there have been plenty of days where I’m too toasty after walking more than a few minutes in my coat and scarf. And the icing on the cake, as far as I’m concerned? There has been little-to-no snow. We had flurries here and there, but nothing substantial … until now. It snowed on Saturday this past weekend and it’s set to potentially blizzard this week (when this post goes live).

Don’t get me wrong, I love Winter wear. The hats, coats, scarves and boots all tickle my fancy. I love a bundled look, but I don’t necessarily love the snow that goes with it. I like to wear snow boots because I choose to, not because I have to. Makes total sense, right? Right! Glad we’re on the same page.

This past Sunday, I met up with the lovely Agnes from Spoons and Stilettos for a cup of coffee and outfit photos. It was such a pleasure to meet Agnes, especially since we’re two city bloggers caught in the suburbs 🙂 We might have gotten a few stares from people walking by, but we didn’t let that stop us from capturing our snowy OOTD.

new year's eve outfits

Outfit Options: New Year’s Eve

Can you believe we’re just a couple of short weeks to the end of 2014 and the start of 2015? You probably can assuming that you have either a physical or electronic calendar that you can consult. But that’s beside the point.

To ring in 2015 correctly and start the year on a good foot, you’ll need (obviously NEED and not want) to rock a New Year’s Eve outfit that’s as fabulous as you. And plus, if there is one night when no one can mock you (or remember) for wearing a romper, NYE is the night. To help you plan for the midnight countdown, I’ve pulled together three outfit options that could work for (almost) every party.

Leather, Tartan and Peach

It’s my favorite season for fashion – Fall. How can you not just love all the jackets, scarves, sweaters and purses?! Ok, so purses aren’t unique to Fall, but purses are always a good thing.

I’ve only owned two peach purses in my life. Once in 10th grade and once … now. This Robert and Matthew bad boy has become my everyday work bag  of the moment. It’s the perfect size and I love that is has a shoulder and cross-body strap. I don’t acknowledge purses without a cross-body option (unless it’s my trusty Lonchamp).

I wouldn’t normally whip out a peach purse after the Summer, but I’m actually kind of loving the unexpected color. It’s a nice contrast to the deeper colors of the rest of my Fall clothing. Plus, I’ve been getting loads on compliments, so I can’t put it away for next Spring/Summer just yet.

Would you rock a peach purse?

September Wish List

I might be the only person in all of New England who can’t wait for the end of Summer. Come July, I’m normally over the heat and sundresses and ready to slip into a pair of riding boots and light jacket. And while I’m currently sitting inside trying to deny the fact that it’s still 80 degrees outside, I am also wrapping up my Fall prep with some beauty and clothing shopping. Just ’cause I’m not going back to school doesn’t mean I can’t indulge a little bit. I have probably overindulged just a bit, but there are still a few items I have my eye on.

May Wish List

May Wish List

Another month means another month of lusting after beauty and fashion goodies. I was supposed to be on a shopping ban last month, but that didn’t go so well. I think I’ll try it again this month, but we’ll see …

Any who, I’m hoping May brings warmer weather that sends me to the beach, so it’s time to pick up my yearly bathing suit. I’ve also been eyeing this clutch for a while and I think it belongs in my life. For makeup – I’ve heard such great things about this lippie and Tarte, so I think these items are a must.

May Wish List
I want all of these, please!

You can shop these items here:

I really hope for my wallet’s sake that I have no items on my wish list one month, but I don’t have high hopes for that.

What are you lusting after this month?

April Wish List

It’s April! The weather in Boston was beautiful today, I didn’t get tricked by any April’s Fools jokes and it’s my birthday month. April is going to be super fabulous, I feel it in my bones.

I’ve gone a little shopping crazy recently, so I’m thinking about going on a shopping ban of sorts this month. I’ll only buy things if I need them … like a replacement for the pair of jeans I ripped this past weekend. However, seeing as it’s my birthday month, I’ve got my fingers crossed that I might get a few of the below goodies.

I wouldn’t hate if these showed up for my birthday

What are you lusting over this month? I’d love to hear what’s on your April wish list.
