& Other Stories

H&M recently released its newest collection from its new label, & Other Stories.  I’m obsessed, to say the least.  I love the brand, the clothes, the accessories, and the website!

& Other Stories has done an amazing job of revamping the typical online storefront; instead of simply featuring still images of each piece separately, the website offers a variety of photographs.  Some items are featured on posed models, other clothes and accessories are attached to hangers, and some even are featured on what look like candid images.

Overall, I think H&M has done a pretty awesome job with its newest brand.  Though this line is a little pricier than H&M’s typical collection, the clothing, shoes, and accessories are a little more sophisticated.  Here are a few of my favorites:

1.  Mid-Heel Sandals are perfect for this season.

1

Crafted from linen and leather, I’m loving that these shoes have a covered heel, but open toes.

2.  This Two-Tone Dress puts a nice spin on the classic black dress.

2

Sometimes during the warmer months I stay away from the classic LBDs because I prefer lighter colors, but this makes for the perfect spring evening getup.

3.  This Bustier with Boned Cups.

3

How adorable! I think this one speaks for itself.

4.  I just can’t get enough of this Sunrise Print Clutch.

4

Made with nylon mesh and a colorful sunrise print, this clutch is perfect for any outfit this season.

5.  After spotting this Box Chain Bracelet, I immediately said to myself, “how do I not already have a box chain bracelet?”

5

This one from & Other Stories is simply perfect.

What piece is your favorite from & Other Stories?

Fab Finds: Velvet

Velvet has always been a texture I’ve been fascinated with, but not bold enough to wear after the age of eight. However, this holiday season I have seen fabric transition to high fashion with velvet clothing and accessories popping up on many store mannequins. The other week I took it upon me to try on a black velvet skirt from Urban Outfitters, just to see if I could pull the material off, and instantly fell in love!

Velvet is the perfect texture to add a touch of uniqueness to any winter outfit. Whether it’s a velvet blazer or a scarf with a simple accent of velvet, the material creates an expensive and festive look for the season. To ease your way into the velvet scene, start by replacing some of your every day items, such as black jeans, with the velvet version of them. You’ll find yourself receiving many compliments for your creative choice in fabric.

I plan to wear my black velvet skirt on New Years Eve with some type of top and beaded, shimmery belt.  Find your own velvet touch this season now!

Fab Finds – Gifts Under $50

With the holiday season underway, I am definitely beginning to feel the pressures of finding gifts for everyone on my shopping list. Surprisingly enough, the most difficult people to find cute and clever gifts for are my best girl friends. Last week we drew names for our Secret Santa swap and the limit is $50, hence the inspiration of this post!

While many stores have great sales during the holidays, it still can be a challenge to find special gifts on an affordable budget. When I shop for gifts, I always look for items that can be used again and again. Nail polish sets, iPhone cases, and fragrance sets are some of my favorites for this price range. With these types of gifts, your friends will remember you every day that they get use out of your gift!

I ended up giving my friend a subscription to Cosmopolitan magazine, Essie nail polishes, and Hershey Kisses for her Secret Santa gift. Take a look at some of my other ideas for gifts under $50 below!

Fab Finds: Texting Gloves

As a girl who is always glued to her beloved iPhone, it has become undoubtedly noticeable how inconvenient it is to use my phone every cold winter season. Gloves are a necessity to keep our fingers warm, but how much of a hassle is it to take off our gloves every time we hear that text alert and vibration from Twitter? Fear no longer texting pals- our solution is here, texting gloves!

Texting gloves are gloves that either have fold-back tops at the tip of the thumb and pointer finger, or have touch screen sensitive material at the tops of the fingers to allow a smart phone to read touch. Some texting gloves are similar to fingerless mittens, but instead allow the most important finger to texting, the thumb, to be exposed as well.

Many major brands such as Burberry and Michael Kors are beginning to design texting gloves, so we can even be fashionable while keeping warm and playing Angry Birds on the train ride home from work. How much better does it get than that?

Fab Finds: Blouses

Maybe it’s because I’m beginning to look for professional yet stylish tops to wear for my first work experience in an office setting, but I have been noticing the great collection of blouses that brands are carrying this season.

Blouses are a classic piece that can change an outfit from casual to sophisticated in an instant. Opt for blouses with ties at the top and buttons down the front to create a chic look that can take you from the office to a night out. To try out a bohemian look, wear a blouse with a colorful pattern or interesting cut. One of my favorite blouse finds is the one featured below by Zara with the interesting back cut-out.

From denim to skirts, a blouse is a staple item that you will not hesitate to wear again and again in different ways. Find your favorite today!

Fab Finds: Faux Fur

As the early days of November roll along, looking stylish while staying warm can pose a difficult feat for many women. For the days when wool pea coats and cashmere sweaters just aren’t enough, faux fur items are the perfect amount of cozy to fight off the wind.

Faux fur is a trend that can add instant glam to any outfit if chosen tastefully. Whether on the trim of a coat or peaking out of the tops of booties, a healthy amount of fur is sure to keep you looking chic and feeling toasty. Even better, many faux fur items look as expensive as real fur, only with a much better price point.

No need to fear animal lovers! Faux fur does not include any real animal fur and no animals are harmed in its production.

Fab Finds: Lace-Up Booties

As a self-proclaimed shoe fanatic, I’m always looking for new styles of shoes to add to my ever-growing collection. The top shelf of my walk of my closet is home to my many pairs of heels, and the floor has a special place for my favorite type of shoes, boots of course! This fall my favorite addition to my boot collection is the lace-up bootie.

Lace-up booties are the perfect way to add some edge to any daytime outfit. The clean, sophisticated lace look in the front creates a stylish update to the already popular bootie style. Try sporting these booties with a skinny pant and oversized sweater, or with a pair of tights and a dress for a city-chic look.

The best part of this shoe style is that the wedge lace-up booties are comfortable enough to wear for a full day on the town. I wore my pair out shopping on Newbury Street last week and the number of compliments I received was endless!

Don’t hesitate, start looking for your favorite lace-up bootie today!

Fab Finds: Riding Boots

Now that we are well into the month of September, it’s time to start packing up those summer sandals and replace them with the cute shoes of fall. If there is one item that I believe all women must have for their fall wardrobe, it is a killer pair of boots. However not just any boots, riding boots!

Riding boots are one of the best investments you will make this season since you’ll be able to wear them with practically every fall outfit. Pair them with jeggings and an oversized sweater or with a casual dress and tights, both ways the boots will look great! Riding boots can be found in many shades of browns ranging from chestnut to mocha, along with darker, less traditional shades such as taupe and black. The best part of a riding boot is that they add a sophisticated look without overpowering a perfectly put together outfit. Try wearing boot socks with riding boots to add a cute pop of color or texture peaking out from the top of the boots.

I’ve owned a different pair of riding boots every fall season since the beginning of high school and I faithfully continue to add to my collection every year. Check out some of my favorite riding boots below (I have the Michael Kors waiting in my closet for their debut this year!) and get searching for your most important fall item now!

Fab Finds: Fall Jackets

Lately as I’ve ventured outside, it has been difficult to deny the definite shift in the air. As summer fades away and we enter the month of September, it’s time for us to prepare ourselves and our wardrobe for the cool breeze of Fall. Over the next few weeks, I hope to fill you all in on unique and necessary items to build your perfect Fall wardrobe.

A Fall jacket is the perfect place to begin. Whether it be for a short walk to the bank or an all day outdoor event, it is important to have a light to medium weight jacket to layer over an every day outfit for those chilly days. Fall jackets come in many different styles and colors ranging from the trendy trench to the classic denim. When choosing a Fall jacket, be sure to opt for something that will keep you warm until winter, but also match with your sweaters and scarves of Fall. My favorite Fall jackets are those in an autumnal color or any range of deep green. If you’re looking to be a little more adventurous, try a coat with a pattern or intricate embroidery such as the ones shown below. No matter what Fall coat you choose, I can promise it will look great with those new boots you’ve been dreaming of (coming up as a Fab Find soon!).

So go ahead and start creating your latest look with a beautiful Fall jacket of your own style before Fall catches up on you!

Fab Finds: Cardigans and Blazers

Just yesterday, I felt like summer was beginning and I was pulling out all of my cute summer dresses, skirts and shorts from the downstairs closet ready to dig into them. And just like that summer is coming to an end; fall is right around the corner. Summer is my favorite time of year: I love the heat, the sunshine, the long days and the cute summer clothes. Don’t fret though, just because summer is ending does not mean you have to put away your cute summer clothes yet. For those chilly mornings, add a cute cardigan or crop jacket and just like that you have a super cute outfit that works for the chilly morning as well as the warmer weather later in the day. Colored cardigans are also great to add a little sizzle to a plain black dress or skirt. Wearing a busy floral dress? Add a jean jacket or a more neutral cardigan and just like that you are ready for any weather Mother Nature throws your way.
