Ponds BB Cream

POND’S Introduces BB Cream

New POND’S BB cream brings a classic beauty brand back into the spotlight! Products were sent for review, but opinions are all Anne’s own.

Who knew POND’S had a banging BB cream?

I have to admit, when someone would say “POND’S,” I would think about my grandmother and decadent (yet old-fashioned) face cream. But boy, has this beauty brand come a long way!

Take the new POND’S BB cream, for example. First, I was shocked to even learn that POND’S had a BB cream (which stands for blemish balm or beauty balm, for those of you who hate acronyms).  But when the brand sent over it’s new product for review, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try it out, even if my expectations were fairly low.

I was so wrong — this stuff is amazing!

Officially called POND’S Luminous Finish BB+ Cream, the product promises to deliver immediate coverage to even out skin tone, while also offering long-term skin-brightening benefits to visibly fade dark spots on the skin’s surface (the active ingredient is Octinoxate 7.49%). Plus, it provides SPF 15.  The only downside is that it’s only offered in two shades at the moment — light and medium.

I’ve been wearing the POND’s BB cream for two weeks now, and I’m super impressed. First, there is a LOT more coverage than your typical BB cream (it’s more like a CC cream). You don’t need foundation at all, and you can build up your coverage if you’d like, yet it all still looks sheer and natural, and it doesn’t settle in wrinkles one bit (which is key for those of us in the 30+ category).

Check out how good the coverage is in this pic, where I’ve only applied the Pond’s BB cream to one half of my face.

See what I mean? I love this coverage, and it lasts all day!  The other thing that I love is how smoothly it glides on, and how light-weight it is. It just feels like you’ve applied a very light primer.

Of course, POND’S is also very reasonably priced, so you can pick up your own bottle at retailers nationwide for around $10. Let me know if you decide to try it!

Ask BX: My Face Cream Froze — Will it Still Work?

face creamDear BX,

Through a random chain of events, my never-used-before anti-aging face cream made it’s way to a snow patch in my driveway. I thought it was lost until finding it under a snow bank while shoveling. It’s been frozen for a few weeks, so I’m wondering if it will still work the way it’s supposed to when it’s thawed.

-Amy G.

Wow! While we’re dying to know how your face cream ended up in a snow bank, we’ll try to stick to the question at hand.

After learning about the Frozen Face Cream Caper, our gut instincts were that it should be absolutely fine, albeit a bit chilly (though that could have its benefits too).  But then we remembered how some products have the “store at room temperature” instructions, so we thought we’d pull out the big guns to make sure. We turned to skin care expert, celebrity esthetician and spa owner Renee Rouleau for her words of wisdom. And it turns out, our initial suspicions were spot on — it should still work.

“A frozen product should be just fine to use once thawed out,” said Rouleau. “Cold temperatures should not create any problems for the product. Extreme heat, on the other hand, can cause color, consistency and efficacy to be affected.”

So there you have it. Simply thaw it out, then slather away. Just try not to leave it in your driveway this summer when temps are scorching!
