July was a whirlwind of a month. My boyfriend and I spent the first 11 days traveling around Europe and then the second half of the month was mostly spent playing catchup. Since I was mostly on the road, I didn’t anticipate to fall in love with any products, but I fell hard for a few.
The Skin Authority Go Gorgeous kit was my skin-care life blood during my trip. Everything was perfectly sized for dealing with airport security and it contained all my staple products. It’s going with me on every trip from now on!
During our last stop – Amsterdam – I stumbled upon Skins Cosmetics, which is a gorgeous beauty and skin care store. While there, I treated myself to a perfume purchase to help me remember the trip – Byredo in Gypsy Water. I’ve been back for a month now and I’ve worn this scent every day since. Not only do I LOVE this scent, but I’ve received so many compliments on it. Always a plus.
And last but not least, I have fallen seriously IN. LOVE. with Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day line. I was sent samples of all the goodies and wasn’t expecting much, but I was seriously proven wrong. I fell so in love that I’ve already repurchased the shampoo and conditioner after running out of my smaller sample sized and told everyone who would listen to scoop up these products for themselves ASAP.
April has come and gone. It was a fabulous month; maybe the best so far in 2015. Seeing as it was my birthday month, that might be a slightly biased statement. Oh well.
Can you believe it took me 27 years to finally test out Make Up Forever HD Foundation? And I call myself a beauty blogger ….. *disappointed head shake.* While I normally reach for light coverage foundations and BB creams, I’ve been L-O-V-I-N-G this more heavy-duty number. I can’t put it down. And with that, let’s move onto the rest of my April favorites.
Since today is the last day of March (get the picture already, Mother Nature) I figured it would be a good time to pay homage to my month’s favorites. Aside from the brow wiz, these are all new goodies.
Hi there, beauties. March is here, which means a couple of things. For one, Spring is just a couple short weeks away. Second, it’s time for February favorites. Like last month, I don’t have a huge amount of favorites, but I’m going with a zen less-is-more approach to life lately. Ok, that’s a complete lie … I just got back from Sephora with more than I intended to purchase … but I have just been dabbling in a bit of this and a bit of that rather than obsessing over specific products. And with that, let’s gander my monthly favorites and check out the giveaway at the bottom of the post.
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo – This is not a new favorite. In fact, the first time that I wrote about this amazing product was August 2013. I use it more-or-less on a daily basis. On first-day, second-day and third-day hair. It adds volume and texture to my style in addition to having three other uses. And the fact that it’s only $6 at my local CVS is just the icing on the cake. Just assume that this dry shampoo is a monthly favorite moving forward unless I say otherwise.
L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara – This is a new find rather than a recently re-discovered product. I had heard so many great things about this mascara online, but never got around to purchasing a tube of my own until last month. The first couple of tries were a huge flop and I thought that the hype was all smoke and mirrors. Then, as if by magic, the mascara did wonders for my lashes. They are lengthened, defined and almost look like falsies. Whenever I wear this, I get loads of compliments on my lashes, which is always the true test.
Lumene CC Cream– This isn’t a new product. Like the dry shampoo, I’m bringing it back from the back of my drawers. This Lumene CC cream makes my skin look naturally flawless and dewy. It’s the perfect everyday base for whatever look I am going after. I’m reaching the bottom of my bottle and it’s about time I replenish my stock.
Kate Spade New York ‘Gramercy Grand’ Bracelet Watch – This was a Christmas present from my parents. I had it on my personal Pinterest “wish list” board and they generously nabbed it for me. I squealed when I unwrapped it and put it on my wrist and I haven’t taken it off since. You will have seen it all of my fashion posts here, here and here.
This giveaway is now closed — Oh and another February favorite? Giving back to my readers! This month, I’m running a giveaway for a $50 Sephora gift card so you can treat yourself to some new goodies. Who knows, maybe they’ll be your March favorites. You can enter in the widget below. Good luck to all who enter!
Since July, I’ve been sharing some of my favorite products. So far, I’ve run through my favorite makeup, hair care and perfume. Now, it’s time to give skin care a little attention.
When it comes to my skin care routine, I’m a creature of habit. I get a little hesitant when considering new products, as what I use works and I don’t want to mess with a good thing. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Since I don’t mix it up that often, my list of favorites is very brief.
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion – Not too light, not to heavy. This lotion is just perfect with my boringly average skin. In the Winter months when I need a little extra moisture, I just pump out a bit more lotion than the Summer months. No need to swap products between seasons.
Liquid Face Soap – I’ve come across a lot of cleansers that leave my skin dry and itchy. This face “soap” (not the most glamorous name) however, leaves my skin feeling cleansed without being stripped of it’s natural moisture.
Jojoba Charcoal Scrub – Scrub a’ dub dub, cleaning my face in the tub (or the shower, same thing). These scrub is gentle enough to use on a regular basis yet still effective in sloughing off extra dead skin and remove impurities.
Pumpkin Mask – Not only is this mask seasonally appropriate, but it works great too. If my skin is acting up and being atypically red/acneic, a little pumpkin mask and my skin is cleared up almost instantly. I got this and the scrub as an editorial sample, but I plan to repurchase when my bottles run out.
I’m a little bit vain, especially when it comes to my hair. I’ve been growing it out over the past 1+ years since my big chop, and it’s finally almost to my ideal length. While I always take care of my hair, I’ve been a little extra zealous now that I’m excited about its shape and style again. Which leads me to my current favorite hair care products …
Whenever my hair is in desperate need of a good cleansing, I reach for Neutrogena Anti-residue Shampoo. It helps to rid my hair of build-up at the end of the week, leaving my lox clean yet still hydrated.
BioSilk Silk Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner are my day-to-day shampoo and conditioner. They leave my hair oh-so smooth and smelling absolutely delicious.
I’m a bad beauty blogger who doesn’t use heat protectant. GASP! Somehow, my hair remains healthy despite all of hot tools I use. I apply BioSilk Silk Therapy after each shower, before I dry my hair and whenever it needs a little smoothing. Plus, when I’m low on lotion, I lather this all over my body. Shiny lox and limbs … what more can a girl ask for?
I don’t use hair spray on a daily basis, but when I do, I use Tres Two Extra Hold Hair Spray. It holds all day and night while still leaving my hair touchable. No crunchy hair here, folks.
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo is my savior on days when I’m rocking the next-day hair. It absorbs the extra oils quickly, leaving my hair fresh, clean and refreshing. Yes, I just used three words in its name to describe it … deal with it. It’s a self-explanatory name.
That’s it, folks. The 5 products that I’ve been using on the regular for the past few months. I would love to hear what you think if yo’ve tried them before or if you give them a try in the future.
What are some of your current favorite hair care products?
