By the end of the day, I just want to jump in bed and sleep for as many hours as my alarm clock sees fit. However, my dedication to being a non-hypocritical beauty blogger demands that I remove my makeup and cleanse my face each night before it hits my pillow. Seeing that I am dying to curl up under the blankets by this point, I make sure my nightly skin care routine is short and to the point. To cut the amount of time I spend at the sink or in the shower, I have culled my routine down to three simple products that pack a powerful punch.
Thanks to my routine and these kick-ass products, my skin stays healthy and relatively blemish-free. Even the most #blessed of beauties can’t escape a pimple from time to time. Oh and while we’re discussing routines … have you checked out my daily makeup routine yet?
I first heard of First Aid Beauty while binge watching MissGlamorazzi on YouTube. Guilty as charged! The first time I heard about FAB in a real-life context was while getting #twinsies makeovers with my friend back in January. I fell in love with their Facial Radiance Pads immediately, so I was psyched when they reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in trying some of their other products. Obviously, I said yes. A million times, yes!
I’ve come to love each of the products I tested out, but the Facial Radiance Pads continue to be my favorite. I will repurchase them until I stop caring about my face being radiant or the end of the world, whichever comes first. Since I’ve already shared with you a full review of the Facial Radiance Pads (you can read it here if you want to get caught up), I’ll jump ahead to the other products I’ve been using lately – Blemish Patrol Pads, Facial Radiance Polish and Purifying Mask with Red Clay.
I’ve been graced with pretty “normal” skin. This means I’m not overly dry, oily or prone to breakouts. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t experience breakouts from time to time … especially during a specific time each month. Thankfully, I’ve been able to keep any determined acne at bay the past month with the Blemish Patrol Pads. I’ve been able to stop acne in it’s track – a swipe across my chin at night and the acne is gone in the morning!
To help supplement the Facial Radiance Pads, I use the polish every night in the shower. I know what you might be thinking – that I’ve gone exfoliant crazy and am going to irritate my skin. Welp, that’s not so, my friends. Both products are highly effective even though they are gentle enough to use each day. I’m not sure how that’s possible – it must be magic! My skin hasn’t been this smooth and free of redness (unred? not sure of the technical term here) in forever.
And last but not least, the Purifying Mask with Red Clay. I don’t use masks as often as some other beauty bloggers, but I do reach for a facial mask about once a month when I decide I deserve a little extra pampering. This mask is great – after just 20 minutes, my skin feels smoother and my pores are more-or-less invisible. That’s a win-win in my book.
I love FAB too much to keep it to myself. I’m excited to announce that FAB will be gifting one of you beautiful people one set of Facial Radiance Pads and a bottle of Facial Radiance Polish. You can enter below! This giveaway is now closed.
I’m in love! I repeat, I’m in love (and I’m not talking about my B). If you may recall, I spent some quality time (and money) in Sephora last month while out with my friend. And while I left that trip with most of the makeup products I tested, I left some face pads behind. I thought to myself, “Kristin, you are a superwoman and definitely never need to exfoliate, brighten or tone your skin. Put down those First Aid Beauty pads and save the money, it’ll be worth it.”
I was wrong, dead wrong. The Polar Vortex set in and so did some extra-flakey dry skin. That’s a lovely image, I know, but I had never had such flakey skin before. It got to the point where I almost didn’t want to wear makeup because it made the dry skin even more visible. I was distraught. Eventually I figured “what the hell” and went back to Sephora to snatch up the facial pads.
It’s the best decision I’ve made all year, or dare I say in the past six months? After just one use, my flakiness had subsided and my skin looked much more vibrant and bright. I normally don’t buy into “brightening” claims, but I could actually see a difference. It was … and continues to be … a miracle. I thankfully still have more than a month’s worth left, but I’ll be repurchasing as soon as I can see the last few pads. If you’re interested in giving them a try, you can pick them up at Sephora or here.
I put myself on a clothing/shoes/accessories shopping ban for the entirety of January, and I’m so glad it’s over! While I liked the money savings, I didn’t like the lack of shopping. A month without stepping foot inside T.J.Maxx (I knew I would cave if I went in) was torture.
Saturday was my first day off of the ban, so I (naturally) made a beeline for T.J.Maxx after breakfast. Sadly, I didn’t find anything at my normal go-to store, but I didn’t let that stop me. Later in the day, I picked up a black/white sweater at another T.J.s that was conveniently on my way to run another errand. And by run another errand, I mean on my way to perusing the mall. I also picked up my first pair of chucks, a YSL Glossy Stain (that Gouldylox convinced me to purchase), an overpriced chambray shirt and this red dress (not in red online anymore, womp womp).
To try to reign in my spending, I’m taking two approaches … we’ll see if either works. I’ve made a list of classic pieces I want to “splurge” on this year (like the nude and leopard flats and the blazer below) to focus my shopping efforts, and I’m planning two more no-shopping months so I can detox from the shopping bug every few months.
So on to the actual point of this post … the beauty, fashion and lifestyle (hola, tea) products I’m eyeing this month. I won’t buy all of these realistically (damn it fiscal responsibility!), but I’m going to grab a couple of these and I just can’t wait!
